On Tuesday, May 26, 2026, Arridah Relief Foundation distributed food items to over 250 vulnerable households and persons living with disabilities across communities in Kaduna State as part of efforts to support struggling families during the Eid-el-Kabir celebration.
At a time when many Nigerians are battling rising food prices, worsening economic hardship, and the growing difficulty of meeting basic needs, humanitarian interventions like this continue to provide relief and hope for vulnerable communities.
The outreach targeted widows, orphans, persons living with disabilities, and low-income families who have been heavily affected by the country’s current economic realities.
Speaking during the distribution exercise, the National President of Arridah Relief Foundation, Mamman Salima Sani, said the initiative was designed to ease the burden on vulnerable households and ensure that disadvantaged families were not excluded from the Sallah celebration.
According to her, many households are currently struggling to afford basic food supplies, making community support and humanitarian assistance more important than ever.
“We felt it was necessary to support vulnerable families at this period so they can also celebrate Sallah with joy despite the current hardship facing many Nigerians,” she said.
She explained that the intervention forms part of the organisation’s ongoing humanitarian outreach focused on supporting underserved communities during festive periods and difficult economic seasons.
Food items were distributed to beneficiaries across different communities within Kaduna State, while similar support was also extended to some residents in Maraban Jos.
Also speaking, the Secretary of the foundation, Ibrahim Mohammed Salafi, reaffirmed the organisation’s commitment to humanitarian support and welfare interventions targeted at vulnerable people across Northern Nigeria.
He noted that beyond emergency support, the organisation continues to implement charity programmes and community-based initiatives aimed at improving the welfare and living conditions of disadvantaged groups.
Representatives of beneficiaries described the intervention as timely, especially considering the financial pressure many families are currently facing.
Speaking on behalf of beneficiaries, the leader of persons with spinal cord challenges in Kaduna State and representative of the Joint Association of Physically Challenged Persons, Comrade Nasiru Mohammed Adamu, commended the foundation for consistently supporting vulnerable residents during difficult periods.
He added that the gesture would go a long way in helping beneficiaries celebrate Eid-el-Kabir with dignity and a greater sense of inclusion despite ongoing economic challenges.
Stakeholders continue to emphasise the importance of compassion, community support, and humanitarian interventions in helping vulnerable households navigate periods of hardship across Nigeria.
